How to Use the Power of Story

There’s a secret weapon in business that most people overlook.  It’s not your product. Not your pricing. Not your funnel.

There’s a secret weapon in business that most people overlook.  It’s not your product. Not your pricing. Not your funnel.

It’s your story.

When you tell your story well, people don’t just buy—they believe. They trust you. They follow you. And sometimes…their entire life changes.

For ten years I've taught people how to sell online. But here’s the weird part…

People started thanking me for helping them lose weight, stop drinking, even love their wives better.

And this…

At first, I was confused. I didn’t teach any of that.

But they said, “Seth, you talked about discipline… delayed gratification… communication I applied it to my health. My marriage. My habits. It changed me.”

That’s when it hit me: your story doesn’t just drive sales—it drives transformation.

Every great story has 4 parts:

1. The character 🧔🏼‍♂️.

2. The character's desire ❤️.

3. The character's conflict 🥊.

4. The revelation 🤯.

David was a teenage shepherd. (The character).

David set out to bring bread and cheese to his brothers in the military. (The character's desire).

Goliath showed up and threatened David’s brothers and all Israel with permanent slavery. (The character's conflict).

By putting his trust in Yahweh of Israel, David slew the giant with a single stone. (The revelation).

Do you know what's crazy?

Even if you never read a page of the Bible in your life, you already knew what David I'm talking about.

How?

Because it's such a great story.

Stories change lives. No story illustrates this better than the story of Jesus of Nazareth.

How could a man who was tortured and crucified to death over 2,000 years ago by an empire that no longer exists, still impact so many people today?

Imagine standing there at Calvary, shuddering at his mangled body on the cross under the rule of Rome.

And imagine someone told you in that moment: "Two thousand years from now, this empire of Rome will be no more. But that man on the tree will have changed the lives of billions."

This blows my mind.

By the way, you have a great story.

And it's incredibly interesting.

If you doubt me, let me ask you:

  • Are you human?

  • Have you ever desired something?

  • Have you suffered in your pursuit of that desire?

  • Did you experience change along your journey?

If you answered yes to each, then you have a great story.

And the greater the challenge, the better the story

A marriage that fought day and night but finally found peace is a great story.

A teenager who was bullied at school who finally found the guts to stand up to his enemies is a great story.

A single dad who worked two jobs while raising two kids who finally landed a business that gave him margin to be with his kids is a great story.

That’s the power of story.

And it’s sitting inside you right now.

Will you tell it?
