Why successful people feel like they're drowning (and why that's good news

Aug 24, 2025

I used to think successful entrepreneurs had a secret time management hack the rest of us mortals didn't know about.

I used to think successful entrepreneurs had a secret time management hack the rest of us mortals didn't know about.

Maybe they had a special app that turned 24 hours into 30.

Or perhaps they'd discovered how to survive on 2 hours of sleep and pure ambition.

Turns out, I was completely wrong.

The truth? Every successful business owner I've met feels like they're playing the world's most intense game of Whac-A-Mole.

You know the drill: Knock out one task, and suddenly two more pop up like they've been hiding behind your computer screen, snickering at your to-do list.

Create content ✓ → Oh wait, now you need to optimize that funnel AND update your about page.

Engage with leads ✓ → Perfect! Now 47 new emails are glaring at you from your inbox.

Check analytics ✓ → Congratulations, you've just discovered 12 new problems you didn't know existed.

If this sounds familiar, I have news for you:

You're not broken. You're not slow. You're not doing it wrong.

You're building a business.

And businesses, much like toddlers, have an impressive talent for creating chaos faster than you can clean it up.

Here's what I've learned: God gave us exactly 24 hours in a day. Not 25. Not 30. Twenty-four.

Which means we were never meant to worry about that elusive 25th hour we keep chasing. (Spoiler alert: God's already got that one covered.)

Think of it like reading a good book. You don't try to read chapter 8 while you're still on chapter 3, do you? That would just give you a headache and ruin the story.

Your business is the same way.

Focus on today's chapter.

Do what you can with what you have right now.

Then, when the day is done, close it like the end of a chapter in a book.

Let it go.

Rest.

Be refreshed for tomorrow's chapter.

Paul could have won the award for hardest working missionary of the first century. Probably for multiple centuries.

Yet he tells us in Galatians 6:9: "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."

The harvest comes to those who keep showing up, not to those who figured out how to add more hours to their day.

So the next time you feel overwhelmed, remember: You're in good company.

Every successful person before you felt exactly the same way.

The difference? They stopped chasing the 25th hour and learned to make the most of the 24 they were given.

Keep building.
